Welcome to the official portal of the Local Government Department (LGD). This website is one of the mediums of communication between LGD and the general public as a channel for disseminating the organization's main information to the public. LGD places great emphasis on the accuracy of information and ease of browsing the portal and welcomes any suggestions for improvement to increase the effectiveness of this portal. I hope that this portal can provide information and facilities for customers to access information, especially related to LGD's role to help Local Authorities (LA) provide municipal services for the well-being of the people.

LGD has recorded proud records and achievements for the year 2023 when it successfully won First Place (Economic Track) for the Public Sector Innovation Award (AinSA) 2023 through the PBTPay project and the Most Responsive Organization Award in conjunction with the KPKT Ministerial Excellence Award Ceremony 2023 (AKM 2023). LGD has also implemented various programs to boost and advance LA through the process of local physical, socio-economic and health development to improve the living standards of the local community such as MyKiosk, OSC 3.0 Plus and the implementation of BP.1 projects. In addition, various major programs have been successfully implemented and have had a positive impact such as Konvensyen Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan Tahun 2023, Sambutan Hari Kesihatan Persekitaran Sedunia KPKT Tahun 2023 dan Anugerah Toilet Of The Year 2023 (TOTYA23).

In conjunction with the arrival of the new year 2024, I hope that LGD continues to excel in providing the best service to the people. LGD is committed to implementing the Government's policies to ensure that the welfare of the people can be improved. The four (4) main focuses of the Minister of Housing and Local Government for the year 2024 are as follows:

1. People's Well-being Priority KPKT;
2. Infrastructure that Increases People's Happiness;
3. Sustainable Urban Development; and
4. Responsive Local Government.

In addition, there are six (6) KPKT's main initiatives for the Malaysia MADANI Strategic Framework which include:

1. Provision of Affordable Homes (RMM) KPKT;
2. Improve the Stratified Housing Maintenance Program;
3. Implementation of Malaysia's Smart City Rating;
4. Implementation of Continuous Eradication of Illegal Waste Disposal Sites;
5. Implementation of the Circular Economy Blueprint; and
6. Improvement of One Stop Center (OSC) 3.0 Plus Service Delivery in LA.

I would also like to emphasize the importance of strong collaboration within the LGD Team to ensure greater success. Therefore, every LGD officials needs to work hand in hand to achieve a high level of efficiency and quality of work through three main elements which are organized planning, quick implementation and effective communication plan. In addition, I would also like to emphasize aspects of good governance and integrity in the delivery of public services. Strengthening governance through transparency and accountability is the core of an organization's excellence and closes the space for negative perceptions of public services. Therefore, a work culture of integrity should be applied and given priority especially in the fight against corruption in the public service.

I also hope that LGD officials can fully optimize the use of digital applications to realize the digitization of the public sector in carrying out their duties and responsibilities as civil servants to produce the best quality of work.

Finally, may all LGD officials continue to be steadfast in shouldering their responsibilities as excellent civil servants based on integrity and further make LGD one of the best agencies in the public service.
