DIRECTOR GENERAL'S MESSAGE
Dato’ Mohd Fadzli bin Mohd Kenali
Assalamualaikum W.B.T. and Salam Malaysia MADANI,

Welcome to the official portal of the Local Government Department (LGD). This website is one of the mediums of communication between LGD and the general public as a channel for disseminating the organization's main information to the public.  LGD strongly emphasizes the aspect of information accuracy and ease of browsing the portal and welcomes any suggestions for improvement to increase the effectiveness of this portal. I hope that this portal can provide information and facilities for customers to access information, especially regarding LGD's role to help Local Authorities (LA) provide municipal services for the well-being of the people.

LGD has recorded a proud record and achievement for the year 2024 when PBTPay has been accepted as one of the products under MySTI starting 28 May 2024. LGD has also implemented various programs to boost and advance LA through the process of physical, socio-economic and local health development to improve the standard of living of the local community such as MyKiosk, OSC 3.0 Plus and the implementation of BP.1 projects. In addition, various major programs have been successfully implemented and have had a positive impact such as the Konvensyen Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan Tahun 2024, Sambutan Hari Kesihatan Persekitaran Sedunia KPKT Tahun 2024 and the 2024 Toilet of The Year Award (TOTYA24). Also in 2024, various projects were inaugurated including MyKiosk 2.0, the handing over of the Projek Pasar Awam, Projek Pembaikan Tebing Jalan and Projek Pemasangan Lampu Jalan Solar LED Jenis Integrated in Kampung Baru.

In conjunction with the arrival of the new year 2025, I hope that LGD continues to excel in providing the best service to the people. LGD is committed to achieving excellence in 2025 through the application of the concept of 'greater HEIGHTS' values as emphasized by the Minister of Housing and Local Government in the New Year 2025 Mandate. These 'greater HEIGHTS' values include Humility, Ethics, Integrity, Gung-ho (spirit of hard work), Honesty, Teamwork and Success. This concept should be the core of motivation for LGD officials in facing challenges and providing excellent service to the people and aspiration to bring the department to a higher level of excellence.

In line with the 2025 ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship, LGD will be involved in organizing three (3) programs at the ASEAN level under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), namely:
  • ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum (ASUF);
  • ASEAN Governors and Mayors Forum (AGMF); and
  • Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC).

In order to ensure the successful implementation of LGD programs this year, I would like to emphasize the importance of strong collaboration within the LGD Team. Every member of LGD needs to work hand in hand to achieve a high level of efficiency and quality of work through three main elements which are structured planning, quick implementation and effective communication plan.

In line with the implementation of the Sistem Saraan Perkhidmatan Awam (SSPA), I would like to emphasize the aspects of good governance and integrity in the delivery of public services to make the Malaysia MADANI agenda a success. Strengthening governance through transparency and accountability is the core of an organization's excellence and closes the space for the existence of negative perceptions of public services. Therefore, a work culture of integrity should be applied and given priority especially in the fight against corruption in the public service.

I also hope that LGD officials can fully optimize the use of digital applications to realize the digitization of the public sector in carrying out their duties and responsibilities as civil servants to produce the best quality of work.

Finally, may all LGD officials continue to be steadfast in shouldering their responsibilities as excellent civil servants based on integrity and further make LGD one of the best agencies in the public service.
